As you can see the bemo is quite busy and full of kids going to school!!
One of the reasons why I came back to Lombok was to meet Joep and Marijke, and get to know more about the project and see how me and my friends could help.
I was very happy and honoured to participate at the ceremony of the blessing of the bemo, with the folks from the Project, the head of the village and other people from the Kampung. It was a beautiful moment, everybody (well except the 3 Westerner) praying (at some stage in pitch dark due to the usual blackout), then food and chats all around.
It was very interesting to see how the Project work, what's behind the scene. Well I can tell there's quite a lot of work involved, from keeping books of all expenses to buy uniforms and materials for the kids, to looking after medicines and emergencies for everybody in the village. Joep and Marijke came for a holiday, but it looked like work to me most of the times. Being here for just one month a year they have to check books, check which kid is going to which school, update kids name, class and sponsors, not to mention trying to take pictures of more than 80 kids around the village.
They really do a great job, and you can see how everybody in the village, from little kids to old people are very grateful to them.
You can read all details on the Proyek Kampung Loco Website, if you want to donate, sponsor a kid to go to school or simply contribute to expenses like medicines you can do it through the website or simply clicking on the button below.
Thanks again to all past and future sponsors and contributors.
